Pear Tree Flower 1

These are white flowers of a pear tree, that some say signifies; longevity, justice, strength, fruitfulness & salvation. The white, five-petaled flowers are about 2 to 2.5cm (0.79 to 0.98in) in diameter, and they are produced abundantly in early spring, before the leaves expand fully. These belong to the Bradford pear tree, as it is known in the United States, which is a species of pear native to China and Vietnam, in the family Rosaceae, also known as Pyrus calleryana, the Callery pear. It is a deciduous tree growing to 5 to 8m (16 to 26ft) tall, often with a conic to rounded crown. The leaves are oval, 4 to 8cm (1.6 to 3.1in) long, glossy dark green above, and slightly paler below. In much of North America, they are widely planted as ornamental trees. Their dense clusters of white blossoms are conspicuous in early spring.
